When a Steel Gantry Crane is Your Best Bet

By Tom Evans

Hoisting equipment is essential for many businesses whose workers
often handle very heavy objects. Steel gantry cranes, which cost
less than some other frequently used overhead lifting devices, are
often also the optimum equipment-needs match. To learn more
about whether a gantry crane best suits your needs, please read on.

A primary consideration is whether you own your facility. If you
rent or lease, then an adjustable gantry crane usually makes more
sense than an overhead crane because of its portability. Should
decide to move, or if an issue compels you to move, your gantry
crane easily goes with you.

The portability of hoisting equipment also can be very important
within your facility. Unlike overhead cranes, gantry cranes don't
require an overhead runway structure, and, in fact, are designed to
be moved. They can be transported to virtually any location in an
open-area facility where hoisting is needed. They can go to where
the work is.

The portable gantry crane also is an economical piece of material
handling equipment. They are available with a wide variety of lifting
capacities, and, if the capacity of a gantry crane you're considering
suits your hoisting needs, then the odds are significant that it will be
less expensive than a stationary hoisting device.

An additional consideration is whether you deem it essential that your hoisting device have adjustable heights. Many available gantry crane models are designed for their height to be adjusted by the operator, which often enables the device's lifting capabilities to be customized to the height of the object of the object that they will be lifting.

Availability in a wide range of lifting capacities to suit your needs.
Portability to a new facility, if necessary. No necessity to consider
whether a building's structure can support it. If any of these gantry
crane features suits your hoisting needs, then you should strongly
consider these excellent hoisting devices.
