Office Supplies ?Choose the right chair.

By Jatin Chawla

Chair is the most important item of all your office supplies. Your job profile may ask you to sit for hours on that chair, which may take a toll on your back. Therefore, choosing the right chair which is ergonomically designed is very important. This is one item in your office supply that is worth spending money. You should not compromise here with quality.

Why to choose the right chair? People working in offices work sitting in different positions with no back supports. Many of then complain of discomfort, pain in the neck, shoulders and lower back. In such situation it is difficult to give your best and in a way the company is a looser.

You have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to chairs. You should also look for true ergonomic features in a chair rather than going on words of the supplier. Ergonomic is the science of equipment designing for homes and offices. It is hard to believe but it does prove the point that minor adjustments in the design of your office chair can relieve you of your back and body pain.

The below given features will help you determine a true ergonomic chair.

- The chair should have an adjustable seat height.

- It is very important that the seat should have enough space for buttocks.

- The foam used should be soft and of high density.

- It should have a good back support and it should be able to lean back smoothly.

- Armrests (if present) should have proper width to support your arms.

- The dept of the chair should be from the front to where you backrests.

- Your thighs should be well supported by the chair.

- Make sure that the backside of your knee doesn't touch the front of the chair.

- All the said adjustments should be possible while you are sitting on the chair.
